Our Robins : Imagine my delight upon discovering a pair of robins building a nest in our cherry tree. After all, we have lived here for over 22 years and it is the first time any birds have nested in our tiny 15 ft x 20 ft front yard. As Baltimore area temperatures hit new record highs I watched in awe as the mother dutifully shielded her brood from the 102 degree heat with her own body. All nest photographs were taken through the window from the second story. No fossil fuels were burned in the creation of these photos.

Ikebana Flowers : Ikebana flower arrangements in the Sogetsu style exhibited at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum located at the National Arboretum in Washington, DC. June, 2010. Ikebana students from throughout the United States and Japan return to the Arboretum for this annual tribute to their teacher, the late Mary Sugiyama. The Sogetsu school encourages free-form use of materials and imagination to create sculptural compositions.
